Behold the Empire of Ten Thousand Years. The palace at the center of the city, the city at the center of the world. Beyond the Empire is the Wall of Peace, guarded by fierce warriors with fell weapons of mass destruction. Beyond the Wall, there is nothing—only barbarians, howling wastes, and the yellow gulfs of Hell.

Dungeon Majesty has now wrapped, which most of you already know, but I haven’t mentioned it here myself yet, so now I have. Such a happy experiment! Thanks again to all the players and the tiny, slightly demented fan base too. And now [livejournal.com profile] jeffwik’s AmericanBabe game has begun, and [livejournal.com profile] mgrasso says he’s finally really for true no fooling going to run Dogs in the Delta… You know all the ribbing we do around here of the cutting-edge, Secret Door, indie-gaming scene? My friends, we are the cutting-edge indie-gaming scene. We mock what we become, I guess. And vice versa. I cannot count how many times I have found that to be true.

What does everyone love more than posts about gaming? Posts about SCHEDULING gaming! )

Also: I’m going to take Jeremiah out to lunch for his birthday on Thursday. Time & Place TBA: Jere, do you have any requests? Anyone else who can make it to Central Square over their lunch hour and wants to come with should pipe up too.

It's Labo(u)r Day! (For a few more minutes.) And tomorrow is the first day of my new job!

Some of you with keen eyes have already figured this out, but L now has her own LiveJournal, under the user name [livejournal.com profile] papersource. She chose this user name, of course, in honor of Paper Source, the supplier of high end stationery and other fancy paper goods that certain artistically-inclined females find more addictive than Nazi crank. I couldn't convince her to go with any of my noms de cute for her, like [livejournal.com profile] cuticle or [livejournal.com profile] cuddlefish. But [livejournal.com profile] papersource is more than appropriate. L has been known to hit the joint with some of her rowdy coworkers after a couple of after-school martinis and just turn the sucker out of glassine envelopes and decoupage. Anyway, she is of course as witty and delightful online as off, and I encourage you to visit her LJ, Friend her, and shower her with the love and comments she deserves. I do hope this new hobby will survive the onslaught of back to school, but if it doesn't, c'est la vie. No impugning of L's stick-to-it-ive-ness intended, just that it's the day before school starts, and I've seen it before: September hits these poor teachers like Paul Anka's mighty hammer. We shall see.

But! L is not the only one the cool weather has imbued with super human energy and an illusory sense that all things are possible. Here I commemorate the last day of summer and perhaps too many cups of coffee with one of those ever popular "Games I'd Like To Run" posts.

Thirteen is a magic number. )

I got to meet Nora tonight! She is a cutie, a little round ball, except for her wrinkly feet with long monkey-like toes. I think you could make a wish on her feet, but of course her feet would twist your words and the wish would turn out evil. I had a nice chat with her Mommy & Daddy, too. Daddy's next spy game is diabolical, though still a work in progress. Right now it sounds like it will combine the simplicity of a LeCarre trilogy with the quickness of learning Bridge and the ease of ad libbing your own spy novel. But I'm looking forward to it.

Our pod is obviously in one of those creative cycles right now with a ton of neat RPG ideas being floated and not much actual gaming being done. Here I will add to the glut and do nothing to solve it, by describing five game ideas that have colonized my own headspace lately. But this isn't hot air. I'd run any one of these within the month if I had confirmed players. (Probably.) Which is not to say I'm not looking forward to all the groovy games everyone else has been proposing. Once again I ask in wonderment: what do the people (I presume some exist) who don't fantasize at length about teen superspies and glam-rock aliens and SoCal vampire slayers spend all their time thinking about? Reality TV? Jeez, what a way to live your life.

Comments n' queries, cheers n' jeers, darts n' laurels, kicks n' kudos, slaps n' bennies welcome. Remember, kids: game ideas are like little fairies that need your love to live. When they don't get LJ comments, the fairies die... and it's all your fault.
