Ed Emberley, Thou Art Avenged

Here (behind the cut) is the front cover of the valentine I drew for [livejournal.com profile] papersource one year ago today. She liked it, I think.

Yes, the drawings are all pet names we've used on each other at various times. No, explanations of the weirder ones will not be forthcoming. This year's valentine wasn't as intricate, but it was funny that we both wrote exactly the same thing in each other's cards. Explaining how that happened would take this post, already a little iffy, towards toxic levels of squicky cuteness.

I need to get back into drawing and doodling more. I'm no [livejournal.com profile] calamityjon, no way no how, but hey, look at the dippy pose/expression on that Cuddlesaurus. That shit makes me unaccountably happy.

Happy Valentines Day to Couploids and Singletons one and all.

p.s. We got home, eventually.

Could you two be any cuter?

We could only thank the gods that they are not, for if they were, who knows what wouuld happen? I daresay their cuteness would cause the universe to implode.

Moncton! Or as we call it, Monkeytown. The hub of the Maritimes (cause it's soooo greasy!)

Oh, we kid Moncton because we...uh, kinda like it.

And the next Canadian Dracula has got me jonesin' for some fake blood. Pour it on!

ALL THIS AND SIFL & OLLY TOO?

WHAT NOT TO LOVE?

Hee.

"Fake blood! You scare me more than the real thing,
But if you were the real thing, you'd scare me even more..."

Awwwww!
I'm glad I got to meet you guys, and glad you got home safely, finally!

It was good to actually meet you too. Thanks again for the baby hats / yarmulkes / hubcap covers--they are adorable.

I'm not Canadian either, but I got what it takes

Dude, I keep forgetting what an artist you are! Awesome! Those could all make great icons!

Thanks. I love that egg-eyes guy (I'm not sure if I remember what S&O bit that's from) but I'm surprised you didn't use the Four icon for this comment. Maybe that would have undermined the compliment.

He's a call from the public who just screams "WHERE'S MY BREAKFAST? WHERE'S MY BREAKFAST?" over and over again. :)

but I'm surprised you didn't use the Four icon for this comment. Maybe that would have undermined the compliment.

Damn! The Four moved out of my rotation a while back, sadly. But they, too, are from the oeuvre de MacDougall, I forgot!

Oh, and the homemade valentine you got yesterday is pretty freakin sweet, as the kids say.

Isn't it though? More so on glossy paper behind a nice frame. :)

*blink*

I have not heard the name "Ed Emberly" in the past 18 years. I used to devour those books.

Damn. (wanders off to Amazon.com and Google)

I loved the Ed Emberley. This one was my favorite:

Okay - in all your spare time - can I see what "cutest-fish" would look like? I can't picture that at all....
Have you heard the Mrs. Torrence/Rheostatics song "Sweet, Rich, Beautiful, Mine?" For some reason the valentine made me think of it...if you haven't, let me know ....I think you'll enjoy it.
