Advice given to me by an older member of the Academy on how to avoid committees and similar service work in academia: “It can be extremely useful to be seen as unsound.”

Born inside a supernova (He's Viv Vortex)
He gets in 18 and over (He's Viv Vortex)

Psychedelic V-Space! The Varmus’ immense rocktopoid ship, the Kräken, has Viv Vortex’s Flying V spaceship in its tentacles. The Kräken plays the smaller ship like a guitar, gradually tearing the Flying V apart. Viv fires the Groove Thrusters and tries to steer his ship into a Purple Hole. One of his crewmates, a gorgeous blonde (does she maybe look like somebody we know?), asks: “Viv, how will I find you on the other side?” He points to the clouds of the Head Nebula: they form a yin-yang swirl, a cosmic 69. “Remember the sign, baby.” And then he’s gone, a power chord shift across dimensions, his essence converted into pure rock. The Varmus’ voice rumbles like magma. “FOLLOW HIM. THERE IS NOWHERE HE CAN GO I WILL NOT FOLLOW.” The rocktopoids report: “We’ve lost his signal, but not the girl’s.” The Varmus is pleased. “THE GIRL WILL LEAD ME TO HIM.” The Varmus powers up the Kräken’s planet-sized Anti-Woofers, tells his crew: “PREPARE TO BECOME UN-SOUND.”

And if it weren't for a) [livejournal.com profile] robotnik leaving in mere months and b) the fact I was stymied for it the first time by overcrowding/distance, I would too. :)

You know, I wonder if this game would have been smoother in PTA than in HQ. And I swear that's not just my HQaphobia talking. I think the screen presence thing would have balanced out the multiple separate storylines we all had going.

C'mon. 2, 3 more sessions? You can do that before you leave, right? You know if you don't not finishing this one will BURN AT YOU forever!

Listen, I worked hard under orders from Mother to get sabotage this game and get it shut down. Do you think it was easy arranging for the Red Sox to make it to game seven against the Yankees, and then making sure their schedule coincided with our game?

I knew I should have lobbied for him to restart the game BEFORE you came back to LJland... :)

It's in honor of your return that I'm gonna finally get these faux session summaries off my hard drive (where they've been sitting for ages) and onto LJ where they belong.

I had that thought last fall. PTA might have worked, but it would have been a very different beast. I had/have a pretty detailed vision of the Starchildren setting, and PTA doesn't give a GM too much power to insist on having things their way.

Not finishing DOES gnaw at me, which is why I'm just going to go ahead and sketch out the rest of the sessions without bothering to run them. How's that for a dysfunctional GM/player power split? :)

Well, okay, but I'm gonna roll a bunch of dice over here and PRETEND like I have an impact on the outcome. In fact maybe the mere fact of me rolling dice will still impact the outcome in some quantum physics/Grant Morrison/urForge manner. How's THAT for narrative control?!?!?!

Going over the Story Thus Far, I just have to wonder - those songs listed at the bottom of each Act, are they real songs? Because the interweb is not recognizing any of them.

Not in your reality, Earthling.

(Actually, that's not quite true: the Viv Vortex song is an actual recording by one of our players. But the others won't be available on your Earth interweb until 2074, and by then they'll be suppressed by the Ministry of Sound.)

Well, I am a high ranking member of the Hush Police. I'm sure Mother won't mind if I put some extra hours into... Threat Analysis. Yeah, that's it. Any chance I could get my grubby little hands on that recording, just for kicks? I'll trade you the filks my M:TA party made off the Buffy musical a few years back (if I can find them), or those horrifyingly fascinating Year of the Burning Dogs recordings I forced [livejournal.com profile] tryscer to make last year.

By the by, did I ever get around to mentioning that I'm using your old Starchildren writeups to run a one-shot game?
